Ernest takes in a little Nordic sun and soul with his friends American chanteuse Germaine Thomas and Martin Ingerby, an educator and community organizer. Germaine is one of three singers leading the funky soulful Jamnation Band, and this episode starts with watching the crew in full action as they put on a show at The Temple Bar. After busting a few moves and grooving to the music, Ernest meets up with Martin to explore Gamla Stan—the Old Town of Stockholm.
Martin puts on his educator hat to teach Ernest a few words of Swedish and give him a history lesson about this Nordic city. In between the learning, Ernest tries on a Viking hat, makes some silly jokes (as usual), and finds the classic Pippi Longstocking character in a store window. He takes in more views of the architecture and waterways before Martin teaches him one more thing: how to eat fire. It takes a few tries, but eventually Ernest gets it right.
Later, New York native Germaine shares with Ernest what she loves about Stockholm, a city she’s called home for more than 20 years.
