“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” I was told that once before taking my first trip to India back in 2009. I understood the sentiment, but it wasn’t exactly true.
In fact, there are eight nonstop flights and countless one-stop connections between the United States and India every single day. Virtually any two inhabited points on the entire planet are connectable by air in less than 48 hours. India—anywhere, really—can be a once-a-day experience, as long as there’s a flight to be caught.
If you don’t have it already, get your passport. If you do have it, get online and snag a flight deal. It may be to a place you’ve always wanted to go, or to a place you never thought about going, but get out. Go somewhere. Panamá, Paris, Paramaribo, Pittsburgh, Port-of-Spain: You can be anywhere from anywhere. So, fly. Fly far and fly often.
(And for the record, I’ve been to India five times. Come with me and let’s make it six!)
