FLY BROTHER Radio #011: Adventure Capitalist Scott Brills

"It's so important that people break out of routine, explore the world, and experience how other humans live and think.” —Scott Brills

FLY BROTHER Radio with Scott Brills

In this episode, Ernest catches up with his friend Scott Brills, an international entrepreneur, explorer, and philanthropist, who travels the world in search of adventure and business opportunities. As someone who is both a businessman and someone who prioritizes travel, Scott has dubbed himself an “adventure capitalist.” Together, Ernest and Scott discuss safaris, traveling with friends, starting a business, giving back to communities around the globe, and a whole lot more.

Scott credits his interest in travel in part to his grandparents who retired early and spent much of their time traveling around the world. He remembers visiting their home and admiring the photographs and souvenirs from their adventures.

As soon as he could, Scott sought out travel experiences. He lived in Japan his freshman year of college and upon graduation, he immediately started a web development company so he could travel and work remotely. He was a digital nomad before it was trendy!

Beyond his initial travel experiences, Scott also describes the joys and challenges of running a Tanzanian safari company remotely. He also speaks about the importance of sustainability, working with the local communities, and making a positive impact wherever possible.

Ernest couldn’t possibly let Scott leave without talking about his adventures, so throughout the episode, Scott shares some of his best stories. When Scott isn’t working on his businesses or philanthropic ventures, he goes on ludicrous trips in foreign lands, such as driving a junk car from England to Mongolia, circumnavigating India in an auto-rickshaw, or running marathons in the desert with zero training or experience.

This episode is fascinating, but also inspiring!
