“We love life, not because we are used to living but because we are used to loving.” —Friedrich Nietzsche
The word vivir means “to live” in Spanish. Beyond the act of merely existing, true living is about the full-bodied joy of existing in a world of senses and sensibilities, exploring every nook and cranny of the place and loving every minute of it. At the Vivir/Mischief in Mexico singles retreat, hosted by upscale travel purveyors Up in the Air Life and Baecations on the stunning Riviera Maya, a group of adventurous and intrepid singles came to live in the moment and explore themselves, within and without.
The three-day experience kicked off with a rooftop pool party and welcome mixer at the lovely, four-star Fiesta Inn Playa del Carmen on Thursday afternoon, featuring an imported DJ and a champagne toast. Friday began with a series of interactive panels and workshops centered on sex, dating, travel, and self-love, facilitated by sex therapist Jenifer Smith, digital entrepreneur Desniege “Miss Dee” Joseph, relationship coach Darion Coleman, and FLY BROTHER creator Ernest White II. A VIP boat cruise into the Caribbean capped off the evening before a few determined baecationers hit Playa’s nightlife scene. Instagram was popping on Saturday, which opened with a trip to the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum before a day of sun and surf at idyllic Xpu-Ha beach. The weekend events drew to a close with mingling and munchies at It Ganesha, a ritzy rooftop lounge with sunset views over the city and the sea.
Connectivity was the buzzword of the event, as the participants connected with future business partners, travel buddies, love interests, and, most importantly, themselves. On a steamy summer weekend in Mexico, they came, they played, they connected, they lived.
