Amid good food and belly laughs, Ernest explores the spectacular natural and urban beauty of Cape Town, South Africa by car with his road dog, Charlie Walters. An economist by trade, Charlie gives Ernest a breakdown not only of the changing economic landscape of South Africa, but also the social and cultural evolutions that have happened since the end of apartheid.
Ernest grabs a filling lunch with owner Tawanda Mushapaidze at Big Momma’s Home Cooked Food before connecting with Charlie for their city tour. They explore the natural environs of Cape Town, then head to vibrant V&A Waterfront for a bit of music and people-watching. When the rain starts, Ernest and Charlie dry off in the African Arts and Crafts Market on Long Street, where they marvel at the size of an ostrich egg and laugh with a particularly eager vendor, Miss Rosa.
After working up an appetite, they chow down with restaurateur Megan Eloff at her eatery, The Dog’s Bollocks. Ernest ends his Capetonian adventures chatting with Charlie along the Sea Point Promenade and chasing the best sunset views in South Africa.
