São Paulo: Don’t Sleep

Journey with us to Brazil’s biggest and most captivating city, São Paulo. The destination has long been a must-see stop for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the melting pot of Brazilian culture. Explore the rich array of experiences the city offers, including elements pulled from different cultures and areas of the world.

As you roam the streets, be sure to take in São Paulo’s mismatch of different architectural styles. Don’t miss out on the Altino Arantes Building, located in the heart of the city’s downtown core. This beautiful Art Deco skyscraper is an excellent example of the way Brazil incorporates elements of other cultures into its own cultural identity. Built in the 1940s, the Altino Arantes Building was inspired by the Empire State Building in New York City, as well as the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Upon its completion in 1947, the building was considered the world’s largest reinforced concrete structure.

Next, we recommend you check out the Beco do Batman, a.k.a. Batman’s Alley. These narrow streets are home to São Paulo’s highest concentration of renowned street art. The spot attracts  big and small artists from all over the country and even other parts of the world. As you walk down the alleys, we dare you to find even one inch of wall that isn’t covered by art. This free open-air exhibit is a must-see for anyone hoping to learn more about Brazilian art and culture.

Amma Chocolates is a local favorite spot known for its delicious organic local chocolate. It’s always important to think about supporting the local community when travelling, and what better way to do so than by trying some of Brazil’s world-renowned cocoa? The shop is a hidden gem and is sure to provide you with a real authentic Brazilian experience.

It wouldn’t be Brazil without the samba! Visit the Vai-Vai Samba School if you have the time and watch the dancers prepare for Carnival. Their coordinated footwork and the rhythmic drum beat will have you dancing and singing right along with them.
